The Way We Teach
Our school is following the Core Knowledge Curriculum. Using a literature-based approach, we cover reading, math, motor skills, and social and physical skills. We use many music and movement activities to develop both parts of the brain. We are also able to teach some sign language because our teacher’s aide/school secretary, Mrs. Shade, is a sign language interpreter.
Our preschool teaches letters and numbers, but more importantly we help the children learn about the great love of Jesus, their Savior. The children learn Bible lessons, prayers, and songs. Singing and signing, "Yes, Jesus Loves Me" is always one of the first songs they learn.
One day Mrs. Schmidt asked a little boy if he knew his phone number. He said, “No, but I know Jesus loves me and I help people!” His phone number will always change, but Jesus and His love will not!
Preschool
We have two levels of preschool: 3- and 4-year-olds. Our 3-year-old preschool runs on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Our 4-year-old preschool runs Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays, with both morning and afternoon classes.
Kindergarten
Our kindergarten runs all day on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
First - Eighth Grades
Our first to eighth grade classes run 8:30 to 3:30 on Monday through Friday.
